Explore the life and work of the Dutch master, Rembrandt Harmenszoon van Rijn, at the Amsterdam home where he lived and worked for 20 years until he went bankrupt in 1656, with an entrance ticket to the Rembrandt House Museum in central Amsterdam.
The museum also owns an almost complete collection of Rembrandt etchings, and part of the collection is on permanent view. There are frequent temporary exhibitions showcasing the work of his predecessors and contemporaries, and modern and current works of art in the museum’s new wing.
In addition, demonstrations of how Rembrandt’s etchings were printed in the 17th century are held daily, revealing techniques, processes, and all manner of facts about graphic art for your enjoyment. Join a paint preparation demonstration in Rembrandt’s reconstructed studio and learn how pigments and oil were turned into beautifully colored paints.
Also, be sure not to miss Rembrandt’s military helmets and weaponry, Roman busts and of course, those seashells!
