Conceived as a place of recreation and a natural respite in the West of Singapore, Jurong Bird Park has grown into a globally renowned reserve and the largest park of its kind in the region.
Across a 20.2-hectare compound that is sanctuary to 5000 birds comprising 380 species, the park demonstrates a staunch commitment to conservation efforts and exhibiting birds in naturalistic settings. Stroll through habitats that simulate the grasslands of Africa or South American rainforests, and spot their marvellous avian residents.
A favourite amongst visitors is the world’s largest walk-in flight aviary for lories, which spans 3,000 square metres and over 9 stories in height. Be surrounded by 10 species of these beautiful rainbow-coloured birds, and even feed them their daily nectar mix by hand. Enjoy other interactive feeding sessions or get a glimpse of natural instincts in action. World-class shows such as Kings of the Skies exhibit the predatory prowess of eagles, hawks and other birds of prey.
Apart from its winged stars, the park also houses an impressive collection of 108 Heliconia species and cultivars in its Heliconia Repository – one of the largest in the region. Equally awe-inspiring is the African Waterfall Aviary, which houses the world’s tallest artificial waterfall.
Cool off with the kids at the end of the day at Birdz of Play. The fun land has wet and dry zones for kids of all ages, and even a souvenir shop or two for you to grab a memento of your visit to this bird-lover’s paradise.
