Look! Totoro Is Waiting for You at the Entrance!

When you walk along Kichijoji Avenue, in the shade of the tall green trees of Mitaka's Inokashira Park, you come upon a colorful building. Standing in front of a sign that says "Ghibli Museum, Mitaka", a very large Totoro welcomes you at the entrance. When you look through the portholes, soot-black Dust Bunnies are there as well. But this is not the real entrance. Totoro shows you where the real entrance is.

Open the door and welcome to wonderland! Every window and lamp is lovingly hand-crafted with beautiful and colorful stained glass using Ghibli characters, pretty plants and flowers, and forest animals. When the sun is shining, the vivid colors of the glass are reflected in splashes of colored light on the stone floors.
 

Explore the museum and gain insights into its history. Guarantee the visit will make you feel even more enriched when you leave than when you enter.

What You Get

Adult Ticket: Age 18 and above

Student Ticket: Age 13 to 17

Pupil Ticket: Age 7 to 12

Child Ticket: Age 4 to 6

Entrance to Ghibli Museum is strictly by advance purchase of a reserved ticket which specifies the entry date and time of the reservation

The Museum is closed every Tuesday except:
 

• 2019: March 26，April 30, August 13, October 22, December 24

• 2020: February 11

The Museum is also closed at Year-end and for New Year's Holidays and periodic maintenance:
 

• Periodic Maintenance 1: May 21, 2019 through May 31, 2019

• Periodic Maintenance 2: November 4, 2019 through November 15, 2019

• Year-end and New Year Holidays: December 27, 2019 through January 2, 2020

October and November 2019 are fully booked. Only December 2019 and onwards are available for booking

Note: 
 

• It is the reservation ticket. Reservation will be confirmed, however, tickets are not guaranteed to be issued. 
• All admission to the Ghibli Museum is by advance reservation only. No reservation or ticket purchase can be made at the Museum 
• Next month's ticket booking date must start from last month's 11th to this month's 9th day
• You will be informed if tickets are successfully issued within 15th and 17th of each month. Fuil refunds will be issued for unsuccessful tickets.
• Provide us your full name as shown in passport when booking, otherwise your entry will be denied. Name amendment is not allowed after booking.
• Provide us your designated counter for picking up physical ticket at the time of booking. Only one counter can be designated for pick up 
• Entrance time will be stated in the booking remarks if ticket is successfully issued. There are 4 admission times per day: 10:00 hours/ 12:00 hours/ 14:00 hours/16 hours. You are not able to select the admission time. 
• Amendment, cancellation and refunds are not allowed after ticket is issued. 
• Travel Recommends reserves the rights to cancel the ticket if there is no more availability

How To Get There

Train

To JR Mitaka Station, take the JR Chuo Line, approximately 20 minutes from JR Shinjuku Station. From the south exit of JR Mitaka Station, it's a 15-minute walk along the Tamagawa Josui "Waterworks" to the museum.

Bus

A community bus runs from JR Mitaka Station to the museum. Bus tickets are on sale at the vending machine by bus stop No. 9.
