Enjoy an overnight trip to the Gifu and Nagano prefectures to explore Shirakawa-go, Hida Takayama and Kamakochi!  In this tour, you will get the opportunity to explore Shirakawa-go, a UNESCO world heritage site. With traditional thatched-roof houses and many cultural museums, you can embark on a learning journey on the unique culture and heritage. Indulge in the atmosphere of zen as you soak in the sights and sounds of the village and admire its unique architecture.

Afterwards, you will be brought to Gero Onsen Yamagata hotel, which is a luxurious and traditional ryokan, where you will stay overnight. You can also delight in a traditional Japanese kaiseki course dinner specially prepared by the hotel chef. After dinner, enjoy the bath facilities in the hotel or roam around the Gero Onsen area to experience its calming atmosphere.

After a restful sleep and hearty breakfast at the hotel, your first stop on the second day is Hida Takayama, an authentic traditional village in Gifu, also known as “Little Kyoto”. Retaining its traditional charms since the Edo period and residing away from the hustle and bustle of the city, you will certainly feel a sense of peace in the quaint village. Over there, you can enjoy a delicious lunch. 

Work off the lunch by taking a stroll around Kamikochi, Japan’s premier mountain resort, which is known to offer some of Japan’s most spectacular mountain scenery. Kamikochi is particularly beautiful during the autumn foliage season. Use your visit to thoroughly admire and appreciate the natural surroundings of the Nagano region. After exploring Kamikochi, the tour will bring you back to the bustling city life of Tokyo. If you need a relaxing trip away from the city, a visit to Gifu and Nagano will definitely help you unwind and rejuvenate your senses!

• If there is a tour bus entry restriction on your tour day, we will transfer onto a route bus
• If the tour falls on a date when Kamikochi has restricted access, the days of visiting Kamikochi and Shirakawa-go will be switched around
• Lunch on Day 1 is not included. Please prepare your lunch beforehand or buy it on the day
• Please be at the meeting point at least 10 minutes before the departure time
• The tour bus will stop at several pick-up points before arriving at your meeting point. The bus may be late due to traffic or other circumstances, but it will come to your meeting point. Please wait for the bus at the designated meeting place.
