Overview

Spend the day travelling by long-tailed boat exploring Inle Lake. You can witness the leg-rowing fishermen with their own unique style of fishing as well as the floating farm, gardens and stitled homes, which are built on the Lake. Our first visit will be to the village of Indein (1 hour boat drive) on the Western Shore. Indein is a beautiful, off-the-beaten path destination unique for it’s cluster of thousands of ancient weather-beaten stupas. Surrounded by forests Indein is a scenic and very calming destination. After visiting Indein, travel back by boat to central Inle Lake and head to Ywama Village. Ywama Village is where you can see some of the Padaung Tribe, also known as the “long-necked ladies”, and browse through some silver ware and other local workshops. Then, visit the Paung Daw Oo Pagoda built on the lake itself, which houses the five most revered Buddha Images in the State.

After lunch (own expense), travel by boat to the village of Inpawkhone, this village contains many local handicraft *shops and warehouses where you can see and get insight into lotus and silk weaving as well as local boat and cigar making techniques.

Continue on to visit more villages, floating gardens and farms on the Lake based on your preferences.

*Note: our tour guides do not promote mandatory commission based shopping, you are free to just browse through at any shops visited. If you are interested in purchasing souvenirs we highly recommend the silk garment products created by the local people at Inle Lake.
